Learning Expectations

In order to learn a language, you must speak that language at every given opportunity. For that reason, the primary language in our class will be Spanish. English may be used as a secondary language at times to clarify specific points or ask specific questions, but students must ask for permission to do so.

One of the largest grades you will receive in Spanish class is your participation grade. Each quarter, you will be awarded 50 points for participation. Participation points may be earned by offering a great idea or answer in Spanish, or when I notice that you are showing great effort.

These points can be lost in the following ways:

1) Failing to speak in Spanish

2) Failing to participate in an activity

3) Arriving to class unprepared or without the required materials

4) Working on assignments for other classes or reading English literature during Spanish class

5) Receiving a verbal or written warning during Spanish class

                          Project Based Learning

We will be ending every topic with a project such as: creating videos, oral presentations, putting together a comic book, etc. Students will be working on their rough draft of their projects in class, using teacher’s helpful input. They will be responsible for turning in ON TIME the assignment and present it to the rest of the class.

TURNING ASSIGNMENTS ON TIME IS THE KEY TO SUCCEED IN THE SPANISH CLASS!!!!!!!!!! LATE HOMEWORK OR PROJECTS ARE ACCEPTED FOR A SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER GRADE.

                            Grading:

30% In class participation

10% Homework

40% Exams/Projects

20% Quizzes/Readings

                     Academic integrity

All students are expected to do their own work. Academic dishonesty includes, but it is not limited to, using books, notes or online resources, copying from another student during a written exam.
